Do you know any young people who help others in the community? Are they enthusiastic about the services they offer, from their hearts, with no thought of reward or recognition? Would you like to see them honoured and given due credit for all their efforts?

If so, now is your opportunity: nominate any outstanding young person you know for The Hong Kong Youth Service Award 2015.

The Award was set up by the Federation in 2013 to recognize young people aged 18 to 35 who have a track record of community service. Every year, five exceptional young people receive the Award and are fêted at an Awards Ceremony, to be held this year in October.

The nomination deadline is Monday 17 August. Please help us find the very best of Hong Kong's young people!

HKFYG Jockey Club Sai Kung Outdoor Training Camp
This award, organized by CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd, recognizes contributions to environmental protection and energy-saving. It was made to the Federation's camp in Sai Kung for the social welfare organization category. Creating a green campsite is one of HKFYG's goals and the green policy has been an effective motivator for staff and campers alike. Well done!

HBSC Youth Business Award: 5 finalists in the limelight
HBSC Youth Business Award 2015
The finalists in the HBSC Youth Business Award 2015 were IKINGS Group Ltd, LAAB Ltd, PhotoGIFT.hk, Takon Product Development Ltd, and Unlimited Power Production And Training Ltd. They received cash prizes valued at a total of HK$190,000 plus trophies and free promotion. The aims of programme, organized annually by HKFYG with HSBC Commercial Banking as the sole sponsor, is the promotion and recognition of youth entrepreneurship. The finalists were chosen from an entry list of 126 and the awards were made at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 3 August. Good luck to them!

YEN funded by Hong Kong Federation of Insurers
to run new careers programme

職場有格
HKFYG's Youth Employment Network has funding from The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers (香港保險業聯會) to conduct a new life banking programme using a board game called 職場有格. Designed for senior secondary schools, the programme will include taster classes on career planning for students from September 2015 onwards as well as showing teachers how to play.

School Social Work sponsored by Beat Drugs Fund
for Healthy School Programme

The Federation has sponsorship from the Narcotics Bureau Beat Drugs Fund to run the Healthy School Programme in Tai Po District. School talks, workshops, game booths and training programmes are coming up at two secondary schools in the District from September 2015-August 2017. All of them will be focused on helping students to build an attitude that leads to a healthy life style, especially combating drug abuse.

Free science teachers' workshop for new education kit:

HKFYG's Centre for Creative Science and Technology has prepared a new resource kit for secondary and primary school science teachers and invites them to a free workshop, 10am-1pm, Saturday 26 September. Selected teams from the 2014/15 "1 +1 Science Tip-top Talent Scheme" will also be there to share what they have learnt. Admission free. First-come-first-served.

Young Entrepreneurial Course sponsored by Barclays
Anyone aged 18-35 who is interested in entrepreneurship is welcome to join the programme, now entering its 11th phase. Seven topics concerning entrepreneurial activity will be taught by experts in different fields. 80% attendance gives entitlement to a certificate and the course is free of charge.
