Dedicated to entrepreneurship opportunities, the dynamic board of directors of the new Hong Kong General Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs is taking the lead this week at the Young Entrepreneur Bazaar.

They will be sharing their experience and inspiration with other innovative young business people, showcasing their ideas and pitching their wares. Look here to find the bazaar's programme and go to PMQ this week, Thursday and Friday from 6-10pm, to view the products and services of 40 young start-ups. Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2015
The fifth Innovation & Technology Scholarship Award Scheme celebrates the talent of 25 young scientists who will receive funding up to $150,000 each for local internships, attachment programmes overseas, mentorship, and community service projects. The Guest of Honour at the presentation ceremony was The Hon Gregory So Kam-leung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. The scheme is organized by HKFYG, supported by the Innovation and Technology Commission and sponsored by HSBC.

Call for Youth Talent in Theatre with Hang Seng Bank and
Hong Kong Repertory Theatre

Youth Talent in Theatre
Taking part in a play can open the door to self-expression for young people and this new drama training programme, sponsored by the Hang Seng Bank, aims to increase self-confidence in students and develop latent acting talent. It kicks off in May with training and auditions by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, HKFYG’s co-organizer. Selected pupils in senior primary school grades and those in junior secondary school will be trained during the summer to take part in a play on stage in September.

HKFYG Study Planning Centre organizes 1st Asian Education EXPO
8-9 May 2015 with three overseas institutions

1st Asian Education EXPO
To broaden youngsters’ horizons about academic pathways in East and Southeast Asia, the Federation’s Study Planning Centre is organizing the 1st Asian Education Expo this month with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students, Taiwan, and The Japan Society of Hong Kong. Apart from an exhibition on academic institutions, a series of seminars will be arranged on opportunities for students in Japan, Korea, Singapore, mainland China, Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong.  Students, parents and teachers, as well as members of the general public are welcome to attend, free of charge.

Hear a designer of the Ten Thousand Galloping Horses, United with one Heart
Mr Freeman Lau Siu-hong, one of the creative designers of the 10,000 decorated galloping horses, is one of Hong Kong’s best known communication designers. He will be sharing his concepts with the audience this coming Saturday at the HKFYG Continuous Learning Centre where the horse models are on show. Don’t miss the chance to hear him speak. Moody’s Community Maths Classroom
300 underprivileged children aged 9-13 have the chance to improve their mathematics in this programme partnered by the Moody’s Foundation. It is running for 2 years till February 2017 at the HKFYG Jockey Club Ping Shek and Jockey Club Cheung Wah Youth SPOTs. There will also be out-of-classroom activities every month and during the summer which help the youngsters see maths as a way of understanding the world rather than as an abstract concept.

M21 project for ICT training partnered by Microsoft Hong Kong Ltd and Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged
The Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged has made a matching grant with Microsoft Hong Kong Ltd for the development of this new M21 project. Named Innovative & Employment Training for Youth Phase II 青年創新及就業培訓計劃(第二期), the project’s aims are to provide free information and communication technology (ICT) skills training and career-building workshops for youth from low-income families. These offer a chance for upward mobility, not only because the skills are not learned in school but also because they are too costly outside school.

HKFYG Summer Schools for Effective Leadership 2015 at HKU and HKUST
The theme for the Summer School at HKU this year is An Overture to Global Leadership - Working Poverty and Social Equity. It runs from 31 July – 8 August 2015 and is supported by the General Education Unit, University of Hong Kong. The theme of the HKUST chapter, from 13-18 July, is Speak Like a Leader. Co-organized by the Center for Language Education and Entrepreneurship, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, it is supported by Toastmasters International. About 190 secondary students from all over the world are taking part. Grants and scholarships available on application.

Friends of the Harp promote classical music in Tin Shui Wai
Free harp lessons are being organized by the Friends of the Harp Charity Foundation for underprivileged 8-17 year-olds and other keen youngsters living in Tin Shui Wai. Classes are at the HKFYG Jockey Club Tin Yuet Youth SPOT and the second phase of recruitment takes place this month. The goal is greater quality of life in the community and a chance to experience and play classical music. A public performance at the Chung Fu Open Plaza in Tin Shui Wai is coming up on 28 June and classes will be run during the summer when instruments will be provided by Friends of the Harp.
